Isle of Skye, Scottish Highlands

My travels took me to one of the most visited and gorgeous places that Scotland has to offer: the Isle of Skye. I booked the trip through a tour that my university recommended, and the details included a two day trip to the Isle of Skye with accommodation and a tour guide telling us interesting facts the entire way. The first place that we visited was Glencoe to see the three sisters, a beautiful set of three mountains that are very identical to one another. We stayed here for about thirty minutes looking up at the mountains in awe because of the natural beauty.

Next, we went to the Isle of Skye itself, which we were lucky to have beautiful weather as it is not very often that that happens. The first stop was the Old Man of Storr, which we took an hour and a half to hike up to. It is a very large rock structure protruding from the ground, and it is an anomaly about how it became to rest at that spot. The hike was not bad at all, and I would recommend any travelers to take the hike as well as it offers views of the rock plus phenomenal views of the islands and the ocean around the Isle of Skye.

After our hike, we took the bus to a waterfall, which is one of only 31 waterfalls in the world that fall directly into the ocean. It was magnificent and is about 60 meters tall. The areas surrounding the waterfall was equally as gorgeous, offering towering sea cliffs and an expansive ocean with views of the islands around the Isle of Skye as well.

When we left the Isle of Skye, because of how good the weather was on the day that we went, we were able to see the peak of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK located in Fort Williams, which is only visible for a few days out of the year. We were extremely lucky! It was the first weekend of the year that the mountains had snowcaps at the top, and Ben Nevis was no different.

The Isle of Skye was the most beautiful place I have been to in Scotland so far and I highly suggest any traveler to visit. It is filled with every landscape you could desire and I hope if you ever go, you get as lucky with weather as I did!
